The 2026 Formula One season will see the Azerbaijan Grand Prix run a day earlier than usual, with the race scheduled for Saturday, September 26, instead of Sunday.

F1 Azerbaijan GP schedule

Practice sessions start on Thursday, September 24, at 14:00 IST (FP1) and 17:30 IST (FP2). A third practice session follows on Friday, September 25, at 14:00 IST, and qualifying takes place the same day at 17:30 IST. The main race kicks off on Saturday at 16:30 IST.

All F1 sessions will be streamed live in India via the FanCode and F1 TV apps.

Championship implications

Kimi Antonelli extended his lead in the drivers’ standings to 81 points after winning in Madrid. His Mercedes teammate George Russell remains second, while Lewis Hamilton holds third despite retiring from the Spanish Grand Prix. Qualifying for the LMGT3 class begins Saturday at 10:30 IST, followed by Hypercar qualifying at 11:10 IST. The 6‑hour race starts Saturday at 07:30 IST.

Toyota leads the teams’ championship, but BMW trails by nine points, and Ferrari sits third, 26 points off the lead.
