Ultraviolette secures $85 million to boost Indian EV output

Ultraviolette said it has secured $85 million in new financing to build a Hosur factory that will raise annual EV motorcycle output to 500,000 units.

Funding details

The financing round was led by deep‑tech investor Yali Capital and TDK Ventures. Additional capital came from Intel chief executive Lip‑Bu Tan, who also serves as chairman of Walden International and advisor to Ultraviolette, as well as existing backers Zoho Corporation, TVS Motor and Qualcomm Ventures.

Production capacity expansion

Ultraviolette plans to use the funds to construct a manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The plant will enable the company to increase production of its current models – the F77 Mach 2, F77 Superstreet and X‑47 – to up to 5 lakh (500,000) units per year. The firm also said the new site will support battery architecture ranging from 48 V to 400 V, allowing it to tailor platforms for diverse rider needs.

Market expansion plans

With the fresh capital, Ultraviolette aims to enter the United States market next year. The company also outlined plans to launch four new products and to expand into Latin America and Southeast Asia. Today the brand operates in India and 20 European countries, including Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom and Italy.

Company executives said the investment will accelerate development of next‑generation models while scaling existing production lines. By expanding its footprint abroad, Ultraviolette hopes to capture a larger share of the global electric two‑wheel market.
